Proper cleaning and maintenance
This will ensure that your shower enclosure remains a source of pure enjoyment.
Enjoy your refreshing pleasure! Afterwards, cleaning your shower takes just a few simple steps and everything is clean again. Water runs off smoothly on the profiles and inner surfaces of the discs. The mechanical parts such as hinges and handles require a little attention – but they will thank you with a brilliant surface and optimum functionality. You will find everything you need to know in the maintenance and cleaning instructions that come with every KERMI shower. If you do need a spare part, don't worry! You have a 20-year spare parts guarantee. Even after the model has been discontinued. As you can see, we are serious about long service life.
Proper cleaning is important
To keep your shower enclosure looking shiny for a long time, we recommend regular cleaning after use. After showering, you should first rinse the interior surfaces with warm water, then with cold water, and dry them. Profiles and discs may only be cleaned with mild, commercially available cleaning and care products, e.g. diluted vinegar water (mixing ratio 1:1). Under no circumstances should abrasive cleaners, alcohol or nitro thinners etc. be used.
Incorrect treatment, such as cleaning with steel wool or coarse microfibre, will cause scratches. If the glass has not been cleaned for a long time and is heavily soiled with limescale and mineral deposits, we recommend cleaning with polishing paste.
Minimal maintenance for optimal function
It is advisable to lubricate the guide rails, rollers and hinges once a year, e.g. with Vaseline or silicone spray, and to tighten the screws on the rollers, metal hinges and rising hinge mechanism to ensure smooth operation for many years to come.
Cleaning glass surfaces refined with CLEAN easy cleaning coating
The Kermi CLEAN easy cleaning coating for safety glass is an ideal option if you want even less cleaning effort. A special surface coating prevents dried water droplets, soap residues, dirt and limescale marks from sticking stubbornly. And, by the way, it also prevents germs and bacteria, which improves hygiene. Of course, the coating is not a "miracle cure" that saves you maintenance. But if you don't have time for it, it's not the end of the world. Similar to the non-stick coating on your frying pan, residues are much easier to remove. Another plus point: you need much less cleaning agent, which is good for your wallet as well as the environment.
For cleaning, we recommend soft, non-abrasive cloths and standard, non-abrasive cleaning agents.
NOTE: Highly effective, coarse microfibres and aggressive cleaning agents can damage the surface!
CLEAN has been certified by an independent institute following a hygiene assessment and microbiological testing as "suitable for unrestricted use in all areas of the following facilities": hospitals, nursing homes, retirement homes, schools, nurseries and similar institutions. In tests, TÜV has confirmed a durability of at least ten years.
General information
Depending on the type of glass, water quality and frequency of use, applications and cleaning intervals vary. A shower enclosure with a design with floor clearance or a flat floor sill always means a restriction in terms of splash water protection. It is therefore completely normal for water to escape during cleaning.
NOTE: Nickel sulphide inclusions in single panel safety glass can cause spontaneous failure. However, with the most modern tests, such as ESG-H*, it is unfortunately still not possible to 100% sort out such discs, so that there is always an unavoidable residual risk. Should breakages occur, these do NOT constitute grounds for complaint.
We have also made it easier for you to purchase spare parts, as the item data on the back of the instructions or the ident code* on the shower enclosure make it very easy to purchase spare sealing strips, for example.
