The essentials of recess showers
A recessed shower is fitted directly into a wall recess, without the need for a separate shower cubicle. All you need is a suitable door. These are available in various sizes and designs.
The recess shower is available in a range of hinges, profiles and door styles. These include elegant two part hinged doors that open in both directions, hinged doors that open outwards only, and sliding doors that slide to the side to save space.
Recess showers are usually installed for architectural reasons – for example, because that’s the only space left. Make sure you have good lighting: with walls on three sides, little natural light reaches a recess shower. This can be an advantage when it comes to cleaning, as there is less glass to clean.
The wall recess must be sufficiently large. With Kermi Duschdesign, shower doors for recesses start at 66 cm. However, we always recommend a minimum size of 90 x 90 cm. Every centimetre beyond that enhances your sense of well-being. And, of course, the walls should be sturdy and strong enough to support the assembly.
