Important tips for planning your WALK-IN shower

When planning a Walk-In shower, you should ensure that there is sufficient space and, above all, proper water drainage.
A walk-in shower that is open on one side should be at least 120 cm x 90 cm in size to keep most of the water in the shower. If two sides are open, the length should be 160 cm. For a more spacious shower, a size of 140 cm x 100 cm or more is recommended to ensure freedom of movement and a comfortable showering experience. Alternatively, Kermi shower design also offers walk-in showers that can be closed completely with a door or partially with a fixed panel.
The floor is always important, as it must be deep enough to provide an outlet and the slope of the shower tray or tiles. Sufficient slope and therefore water drainage are particularly important for larger walk-in showers. The bathroom should offer sufficient space for the installation of an open, level-access shower (walk-in shower). The ideal dimensions are at least 120 cm x 900 cm.
In an open shower, the water can splash to varying degrees depending on the water temperature, water pressure and position of the shower head. As a rule, however, you should expect water to splash about 30 to 50 cm beyond the edge of the shower area, depending on the shower. Kermi shower design walk-in shower solutions can be configured with shower doors or shower partitions to minimise the splash area.
Single panel safety glass (ESG) is the standard choice for walk-in showers – and is standard in all Kermi shower enclosures. ESG is particularly robust and resistant, as it breaks into small, harmless pieces when shattered. The WALK-IN XC has a glass thickness of 10 mm and therefore requires no further stabilizer than its wall profile. For all other models, the glass should be supported with the stabilizer available for each model. At Kermi shower design, the glass can be coated so that limescale is less likely to adhere to it, making cleaning easier. In addition, almost any motif can be sandblasted onto the glass, or tinted glass can be selected.
