Corner, recess, door – which shower suits the layout?

The layout of the bathroom determines the design of the shower. Whilst open walk-in showers are currently in vogue in spacious new-build properties or during major renovations, many existing properties require more compact, functionally optimised solutions. 

Kermi Duschdesign often recommends the classic corner entry – it combines comfort, plenty of natural light and efficient use of space. However, depending on the floor plan and installation situation, other designs may also be suitable. The range of showers is diverse and can be tailored to suit virtually any bathroom design. 

Particular attention should be paid to choosing the right shower door – it determines ease of use and optimal use of space. Swing doors, which open outwards only, offer a generous entry width but require sufficient swing space and are suitable for larger bathrooms. Sliding doors, on the other hand, are ideal for smaller spaces: they glide smoothly on rails and require no swing space. Swing-fold doors are considered particularly flexible. They can be opened both inwards and outwards, which not only makes entry easier but also simplifies cleaning the shower. Double-leaf variants allow for a wide entry with minimal space requirements. For compact bathroom layouts, swing-fold doors are an ideal solution – they can be folded against the wall after use to save space, thereby creating additional freedom of movement. 

Whether in a corner, a recess or an open space: the right combination of shower shape and door mechanism creates a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing solution for every bathroom.
